Have you ever wanted to use Dreamweaver CS6 to create a web portfolio of only your best work whether you are a Photographer, Graphic Designer, Illustrator, Videographer or Animator? Well in this tutorial I'll show you how to do just that.
Requirements
- Dreamweaver CS6
- A web host to upload your portfolio to
- Create a new folder in your local site. I called mine .
- Hit File -> New
- Accept the defaults for page type and layout .
- Choose for the DocType.
- If you have an exsisting stylesheet choose to link to it.
- Click .
- Save your initial page as .
- Write something about what you're about to show off on this page
- Repeat steps 2-6 to create pages you want to show your best work.
- Save them as their respective pages.
There you have it your very own portfolio page. You can add any of your best work in any format except Illustrator. For Illustrator documents to work you'll have to export an Illustrator document to a Photoshop document to insert as a smart object.
A word on inserting PSD's as smart objects
When you insert a Photoshop document into Dreamweaver it converts the Photoshop document to a JPEG with spinning arrows and an image icon in the upper left hand corner of the image you just inserted. What does that tell you? It tells you that you just inserted is a smart object meaning any change you make to the original image will show up in Dreamweaver.
